Shopify catalog help in ChatGPT and Claude

Connect Awesome Feeds to ChatGPT or Claude and ask about your Facebook and Instagram catalog in plain words. Paste an error from Meta Commerce Manager and get what it means and how to fix it in Shopify, find the right Google product category, or pull up the matching guide. Free, no account needed.

What you can ask

  • “Meta Commerce Manager says Recognised GTIN formats are UPC, EAN, JAN and ISBN for 37 products. What does that mean for my Shopify store?”
  • “Why are my products marked out of stock in my Facebook catalog when they are in stock in Shopify?”
  • “What is the Google product category ID for women’s running shoes?”
  • “How do I keep sold-out variants out of my Facebook product feed?”

You can paste several errors at once, one per line. Each answer says whether the items are rejected or only warned about, what to change on the Shopify side, and links to the guide that covers the fix.

How to connect

Claude

In Claude, open Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste the server URL below and connect. No sign-in is needed.

ChatGPT

Turn on Developer mode under Settings → Security and login, then in Plugins add an app (+ → Create app → Create MCP App) with the server URL below and “No Auth”, and mention it in a chat.

Server URL

https://awesomestoreapps.com/mcp

This is a standard remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP), so any MCP-capable client can use it.

Tools

All tools are read-only and public: nothing is written, and no login or store access is involved.

  • explain_catalog_error explains errors and warnings Meta shows for a catalog or data feed (Facebook and Instagram shops and ads): what they mean, whether items are rejected, the fix in Shopify and a guide link.
  • find_product_category searches Google’s product taxonomy, the google_product_category values used by Google Merchant Center and Meta catalogs, by product description or category ID.
  • search_docs searches the Awesome Feeds guides in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese and Portuguese.

Good to know

  • The error explanations cover Meta (Facebook and Instagram) catalogs. They are written from Meta’s published product data specifications and the catalog errors we see on real Shopify feeds; Meta’s own messages in Commerce Manager always take precedence.
  • Errors the connector doesn’t know are returned as “unmatched” with the closest known errors - it never makes up an explanation.
  • Categories come from Google’s product taxonomy (version 2021-09-21, the current one).
  • Awesome Feeds is not affiliated with Meta, Google or Shopify.

Privacy

The connector only receives what the assistant sends for a lookup (an error text, a product description or a search phrase), never your chat, name or account, and it never connects to your store. Nothing is kept beyond routine server logs, which are deleted within about two months. Details: privacy policy.

Terms

Use of the connector is subject to the connector terms of use.
